Dutch are never lacked emerging new football talents. Almost every year to come, promising young talent appears as always. Currently, the most watched talent is Justin Kluivert (19), son of the Dutch football legend, Patrick Kluivert.
Justin merely has some similarities toward his father. Established from Ajax Amsterdam youth rank and got called-up for the Dutch senior team as a teen as well. The only difference is that Justin plays as a winger, while his father legendary as a center forward ago.
Now, Justin Kluivert’s journey destined in AS Roma since the beginning of 2018/19 season. After the rumors spread out this summer that linked him with Barcelona, actually slightly surprised when he joined Giallorossi. He was transferred for € 18 millions from Ajax. Though considered as a smart transfer which done by the director of football, Monchi, however, some say that Roma isn’t a proper place for Justin Kluviert.
A new club, new country and exactly new footballing systems. Justin Kluivert, who is still teenage, will face new circumstances in his carrier for the first time. The most significant thing is that Kluivert must adapt in Italian football which known for tactical fetishes. The Italian football (calcio) by contrast different to the Dutch football.
In Italy, the proper understanding of tactical knowledge and detail is a must, no matter how great the talents player have. Talents derived from players would provide extra additional qualities to teams, but habitually Italian clubs playing in well-organized defense and tactical discipline.
Justin Kluivert needs to integrate his great talents in tactical football plays. As the result, he will grow maturely with increasing his tactical capabilities. This is crucially significant to his carrier, considering the players develop from Dutch football mostly known for their exceptional talents but less tactical knowledge.
Justin Kluivert should take a mirror and realized the Dutch footballers experiences either good and frightening in Italy. The Dutch trio (Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard), Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Wesley Sneijder or currently Stefan De Vrij are the named who can deliver significant impact in Italy.
However, not fewer Dutch footballers bottled when playing for the Italian club. Andy Van Der Meyde, Nigel De Jong, Kevin Strootman or Ricardo Kishna are the click samples. Though the reasons behind each those footballer flopped performances are differences, but Kluivert should still put the attention. Especially for Justin, there weren’t so many successful Dutch wingers in Italy.
Once before the Justin Kluivert’s arrival, Serie A (the highest football competition in Italy) has a prominent youngster from Dutch, called Ricardo Kishna. The 23-years old winger has so many similarities toward Justin Kluivert. Established from Ajax, had played for the national side, signed for Italian capital club (Kishna signed for Lazio) and carrying the title as the future star because being famous as a teenager.
Just like what Kluivert did in his debut, Kishna made a very impressive performance. Kluivert only delivered an assist to the Dzeko’s goal winner in giornata 1 season 2018/19, while Kishna in more impressively debut style, scored a winning goal against Bologna (2-1) in 2015. However, after that good start, Kishna can’t be delivered consistency and currently unused player in Lazio.
Being the player under super controversy football agent, Mino Raiola, dubbed as the new future star with it pressure and failed to adapt in his new surroundings made Kishna potential slowly faded away.
Ricardo Kishna incapability to managed pressure and adaptation properly with Italian football style it was the reason why he declined. Subsequently, he should recover himself to be toyed (loaned) out for minor clubs like Lille OSC and Ado Den Haag. The Ricardo Kishna jinx should be avoided by Justin Kluivert.
Unfortunately, the attention of the public in seeing his form in Italy gradually would expand. These are the factor that can’t be avoided by footballers, but it merely may be reduced or be handled by the player itself. Let us trust in Justin that he can unlock his potential despite under the pressure.
One concrete example if Justin has “matured” can be seen on his career choice to sign for Roma. His father strongly recommended Barcelona to Justin Kluivert, but he rejected it and joined Roma instead plays for Barcelona. It shows he has a mature mentality even still teenage, brave to consider the decision on the carrier by himself.
In fact that no fewer footballer will accept the offer from Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Malcolm was the case. To be honest, joining Roma is the best thing for Justin Kluivert because he has more minutes to play rather than in Barcelona.
By looking at Eusebio Di Francesco needs on wingers to support his tactical profile, seems Kluivert would experience an appropriate place at Roma. Another factor is that Di Francesco kindly to develop young talents. Cengiz Under, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Bryan Cristante, Patrick Schick are listed who are ready to explode in Roma.
Let us know how Justin Kluivert good is. Statistically, he was very well last season 2017/18. He scored 10 goals and 5 assist in 30 in Eredivisie and he can deploys in right or left wing, a versatile player whose Di Francesco like to have.
Currently, our tasks are to wait for Justin Kluivert flourishing like or more than his father or just follow his fellow countryman, Ricardo Kishna.
